FOR SALE!!!

One guard dog......

This is certainly not what I thought I would be doing this morning.   We were woken up around 6.30pm to a loud bang, not sure what it was hubs went to investigate, looked out of the front window...nope nothing there, he was just coming back when he saw a light shining in our garden...strange...looked through the window and two young lads were trying to open our gate, luckily it's very stiff and gets stuck....Hubs banged on the window and they ran off.

When we went to investigate, this is what the loud bang was

We phoned the police and they came out to have a look around and arranged for us to go to the local police station to make a report (luckily there is a lovely policewoman who speaks perfect English).  So we were in the police station for 1.1/2 hours this morning - whilst we were there the telephone rang and it was our neighbour reporting an incident..... I am not sure yet exactly what happened but it seems the two lads had rung my neighbours door bell at 6.30am this morning asking if they had any petrol, obviously they hadn't so it looks like they came to try and get some from us, how they were going to get the petrol out we have no idea and why they smashed the window, we have no idea.... but on the upside, my neighbours had seen these two lads pushing a car down the road and had taken their registration number - so we are hopeful that they will be caught and dealt with.

But if they are caught it won't help us in any way, we still have to repair the window and we are probably going to have to try and find one in  a scrap yard as the excess on our insurance is over 100 Euros, and if we claim we will lose our no claims bonus....it may be cheaper just to repair it ourselves if we can.

Oh, and we were wondering what they used to break the window...until we found this

(That's glass in the corner)

They  used one of my planters from the side of our house to smash the window!!! Talk about adding insult to injury!!

So I have one Jack Russell for sale - but be warned he is not very good at guarding!!

Hugs Linda (and Sam) xx

I don't think I want to meet the guys that could lift that planter!
What an awful mess of your car and such an upsetting event. Glad Sam kept (himself) safe.

So much for your guard dog! It's a shame you'll have to pay for this yourself, but at least there's a chance they'll catch the guys that did it.

have you checked with your insurance because glass is usually not a no claims bonus affecting thing, we've had windscreens and it didn't affect our NCB you just have to add it when shopping around for renewals as a windscreen claim

Oh no, Linda! I am so sorry this happened to you and your hubby! Honestly, there is so much vandalism going on these days...makes me wonder if it's a sign of the economic turndown? Or just plain meanness? And don't even get me started on insurance companies and how they have us over a barrel when it comes time to file a claim! As for Sam...well, maybe he was just in a really sound sleep! Bless his little heart! :o)

Hope they catch those guys!

XOXO,

Cyndi

Oh so sorry this happened to you. Now every noise you hear will wake you for a while. I do hope it's not too much to get it fixed. As for Sam, well, Bless his heart, he's a lover not a fighter.

Oh that just is terrible!!! Don't blame you for being upset. If it makes you feel any better, Sarge wouldn't have probably barked either! Sarge only barks at tiny quiet little sounds! LOL!!!

I will take the dog! I am so sorry for your troubles, what a mess. I bet they do catch them though. Young men just are not real smart.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal Linda, so awful when you end up out of pocket for others' insolence. Can I take first dibs on that gorgeous guard dog of yours????!!!!

Hugs sweetie! Vikki xoxo

Bet there a lot of #%/!! type words being spoken around your house after that episode. Good thing you both heard the noise and that hubby scared them off. It is annoying and now it is an inconvenience to have to organise the repairs. I hope it all goes smoothly.
Good thing your neighbour was smart taking down the number, too!

Sorry. :( I'm sure Sam was just sleeping too well from being loved so much. :o) I hope you'll be able to get it fixed, and that the boys will be caught!

How horrible for you, but I'm glad you're safe, and that Sam didn't have his beauty sleep disturbed!

What an awful fright you must have got - I hope the boys get caught. And that you discover that windows have a different excess on your policy and don't affect your NCB. Sam must have been busy dreaming about chasing rabbits and squirrels!!

I think he would have barked if they had tried to get into his house. Dogs are funny, they bark when the shouldn't and don't bark when they should, lol.
Take care

So sorry to hear about your break in. Sounds like the two doing the breaking in will get their reward soon :)
I am sure Sam was thinking he wanted to help - but the two lads were bigger than him :)

Oh No!!!
What an awful mess to wake up to!
Hope the police catch those kids!

Terrible! We used to have kids in our neighborhood that would get my big Halloween pumpkins and splatter them all over the street. I figured it would all stop when they grew up and moved away from home! And it did. The next group were the picket fence kicker-inners. They're gone too. Hope yours go soon! Keep the guard dog; he looks so cute while he's not guarding! Don't mean to make light of what happened, I know it feels terrible! Very sorry!
