We Have Been Busy

Seems like ages since I last posted, but we have been busy decorating.  We started doing this room months ago, then had a break from it, it's been a long hard slog but I think it's been worth it.

From this:-

When we removed the old window we found a gap underneath it, the rain had been blowing under and into the wall, when we took the old wall boards off the plaster just fell off the wall.....we were not happy bunnies...

We then removed the old panelling and replaced with insulated panels to help keep the heat in, and to cover the wall where the old fire place had been removed - it had been plastered up - badly!!

New window in and new wall panels.

After all the hard work we now have.....

We had to cover the old hearth as there was nothing we could do to rescue it. so from this...

to this...

The doors had plain glass finger plates on and I was going to throw them away and buy new ones, then I decided to try putting fabric behind to see how they looked - pretty good I think and saved us some money.

We have to walk through this room to get to our bedroom, this is found very often in French houses, we can't use it as a bedroom so it is now our dressing room.....posh or what LOL.

A look to melt your heart.....

Hugs Linda xx

Wow! You must have felt just ill when you saw the mess inside that wall! You and your husband have done such a beautiful job fixing it! I am very impressed! I never saw, or possibly never noticed, glass finger panels before! Very interesting! And so clever of you to put pretty fabric underneath the glass.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Posh - job very well done! And then an absolutely beautiful Sam just waiting for the House & Garden people to arrive. It looks amazing - great tie-backs!

Isn't renovating just the best fun? NOT! But it has to be done and you have done a wonderful job. The room looks lovely and I think it is great that you are using your gorgeous quilt on the wall. And of course love the table runner, too. The window also looks well dressed. Love it. Congratulations. What's next?

It looks fabulous and I think what you did with the door plates was so clever.

Wow - such a lot of work and the result is such a beautiful room! Love your idea of fabric behind the door panels! It really is a gorgeous room! Your mini quilt and the tiffany lamp really set it off!

Well worth all the effort I expect! Your dog is very cute too! We are on our way to France but I don't think we are coming in your direction this time!

Just beautiful! (Love the little quilt and the curtains too) Aren't you glad you discovered that mess before it became even worse - as discouraging as it was to find it. Yes Sam is adorable. What a cutie!
