It’s Christmas!

I know it isn’t Christmas really, but it sure felt like it…. look what arrived for me a few days ago

I won the giveaway from Gina at A Patchwork Garden, the panels are huge and I know what I am going to do with them, but, they will be put away for a while, I am ready for some summer sunshine now.  Thank you Gina.

At the moment I am waiting for some fabric for the back of Mimi’s quilt, I thought I had enough for it but I was wrong, really going to have to work on building my stash this is so frustrating.

I was putting some pictures together for a web album today, of us in our younger days when we use to come to France on touring holidays on our motorbike, I found this one of some slim young thing………wonder who she is????

Happy Valentine’s Day

I have just finished piecing Mimi’s quilt and, because it’s Valentine’s Day thought I would show you how it’s looking.

I think I love this one as much as mine!  Really like doing this pattern and it is soooo easy to do.

Now have to think about what to put on the back…….

First sign of Spring

Oh I do love it when the weather warms up a bit, now I know some of you are still freezing and under a blanket of snow and I apologise to those people (sorry Diane LOL) and I know some of you are having 40c heat and are wondering what I am going on about.  But after a freezing winter to be able to go outside for a few hours, to sit with a cuppa and browse magazines, to potter around the garden tidying up the winter leaves, to hang washing out and get it dry…… it’s absolute bliss.

These picture was taken at about 9.30 am we still had frost on the ground.

The above picture was taken at 2.00pm – washing drying yippee!!

This is a view from the gite, please ignore our old banger, we brought it over from the UK and it has served us well for the last 7 years but has failed the MOT and it would just cost us too much to repair it.  So it’s now  used as a tractor on our 2.1/2 acres of land, as we just couldn’t bear to scrap it when it was still in decent condition and we still have a use for it.

Soooo not much sewing getting done today, but have to make the most of these good days, the forecast for next week is rain rain and more rain.

I am making another heart quilt.  This time it’s for my neighbour we have just found out she has breast cancer, as I am typing this she is at the hospital having chemo, she is scared….. so am I…… the quilt is to show her how much I love her, she has been a wonderful neighbour, always there for us, we hardly buy any vegetables in the summer as her and her husband grow loads and there is always a basket for us.  I have introduced them to English bacon and when I give her some she always says “bacon and eggs”   She doesn’t speak any English and my French is limited, but we have become friends, we  just laugh if neither of us understands the other.  I pray from the bottom of my heart that she is going to be okay.
Get well soon Mimi.

Pressies in the Post

Look what the Postman brought me this week, it’s the table topper I won from Hilary, I also got a lovely card, a Sydney tea towel and a key ring in the shape of Australia, how kind was that.

Thank you Hilary it’s lovely.

I also received my free Vignette magazine a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed reading it, haven’t done anything out of it yet though.
It’s been a lovely sunny warm day today, so we took advantage of it and started to clean up the garden, it was so nice to be outside and not stuck indoors, and Sam loved it too,  he looked like he had been digging his way to Australia!!!!  He was absolutely filthy and not just his paws it was all over his face too…..bath time……which he didn’t love quite as much!

Heart to Heart Finished

I finished the binding on my Heart to Heart quilt last night…..late last night, okay in the early hours of this morning, I was determined to get it finished.
There were a few “firsts” for me in this quilt, the first time I had tried something different on the borders, I tried doing lots of leaves but it wasn’t going well so decided it could be Autumn and some leaves had fallen off!!!  That was much better LOL.   Another first was different corners and the first time I have used a stencil.

and this is the back view.

Sorry pictures not very good, was hoping for a nice day so I could take some outside but its cloudy so no good.

I absolutely love this quilt, I enjoyed doing it and and now it’s done I love the bright colours, a little bit of summer on a dull day.  I used this pattern from Moda Bake Shop. I adapted it a little as it was too large for me to quilt, mine measures 60”x60” and I had to fight with this to get it quilted!!

I’ve also made a couple of bags, wow another first for me!! This one took me ages to work out how to put it together, still not sure I have the corners right but it will have to do

Here is the pattern Moda Bake Shop and then I had a go at this one from (sorry I couldn’t get into the link for the tutorials for some reason)  maybe they are updating the site.  I also altered this a bit …. I added the band at the top as I wanted it a little bigger.

Now have to think about what to do next…….

Happy Sunday!
