JOYEUX NOEL!!!

Only 4 more sleeps then it will be the BIG day!    I finally quilted my Wonky Star Quilt which was my first ever QAL it's the biggest quilt I have quilted and I did find it hard to do, I am not saying I won't do one as big again.....but I certainly won't be doing one as big for a while!!

I decided it looked quite nice on my table so, for now, it's a table cloth.

Sorry the pictures are not very good, it's a miserable day today.

I quilted some holly leaves on the border to make it more festive.

Okay that's enough pictures of a table cloth.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stuck with me this year, for the wonderful friends I have made and for all of you who have taken the time to leave comments.  I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for us all.

********MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE********

Hugs from us all

"The First Noel"......

So, what have I been doing?   Well,  every year I look for  "N O E L" to put on my mantle, and every year I can't find one I like, they're either too bright, too tacky or too expensive!  So this year I decided to make my own.   First of all I looked on the internet to find a font I liked, printed the letters, then enlarged them by 150%.  Then appliqued the letters onto the back ground and Voila!!

I now have my own N O E L !!

GO Baby Go!!!!!

Just a few pictures to show I have been playing with my baby.

I cut this pile of HST in less that 15 minutes!!

Some cards I made using the leaf from the Rose of Sharon die.

Lovely little pile of hexies.  After cutting these it did cross my mind that it would be better if we could have the same size dies together, rather than 3 different sizes, I find I am only using the middle one and therefore only cutting 6 at a time, instead of a potential 18 at a time, not sure when I would use all three sizes together.  Please take note Accuquilt

The last picture shows you what Sam was doing while I was cutting the hexies.......

We have a nice big hole under our hedge now. still don't know what he was after!

Bath time Sam!!

At last ... something to show...

Earlier this year my BFF in the UK, Pam, asked if I could make a bird cage cover for her... yes of course I can says I, without a single thought about how I was going to do it.  Pam sent me the measurements and ... it was quite big.   I then sat down and thought "how on earth am I going to do this"  I was really working blind, I wasn't going to be able to keep checking to see if it fit right.  Then there was the design, what was I going to do!

I eventually decided to use my Grace charm pack with some cream, and, even though Pam hadn't asked for it, I embroidered a design on the front.

Here is the finished product and boy am I pleased with it!  I still can't believe how well it fits...... phew... be warned there are a few pictures LOL.

This is the back

The back and the top

Side view, I made is so that all the four sides can be open or closed.

The front

And finally.... close up of the front.

So there you have it, one posh bird cage cover, probably the best dressed birds in England!!!

I have to say Pam, it certainly looks better than the sheet they had over them!!!!!

Today is also a special day, my Dad was born on 3rd December 1910 wow thats 101 years ago, he died in 1996 and I still miss him everyday, but even more so today......

Happy Birthday Dad xxxx

Am I Excited?..... You Bet I am!!

About a month ago I was the lucky lucky lucky (did I mention lucky) winner of an Accuquilt GO Baby (happy dance) from Helen over at Bustle and Sew if you don't know Helen I suggest you pop over and have a look.  So, I waited and waited until eventually last week I just had to email and see where it was, turns out there was a mix up with the die I had asked for.... so it was on hold until Mid-December when the new dies arrive.  Well, I hadn't ordered one of the new dies so when this mix up was sorted my little Baby was sent out last Tuesday.

This morning the postman was knocking on our door.... no it can't be......can it?????

Ohhh yes it was...LOOK!!

You have no idea how hard this was for me, first I had to find the camera, then take a picture before I opened the box (I took the paperwork out before I remembered the picture oops)

Here is it ... oh will you just look at that

and here are the dies

I asked for Hexies, Rose of Sharon and 4" HST, Accuquilt also sent me a cutting mat for each of the dies, how generous was that.  Of course I haven't opened anything yet  ;o) ....... if you believe that.....OF COURSE I have opened it, have been playing around trying them all out...so excited (have I mentioned that before!)

If you don't hear from me now until next year - you know why!!!!

Thank you Helen for hosting the giveaway and picking me and thanks to Accuquilt for such a generous giveaway and for posting Internationally.

Hugs Linda  :-)  :-)  :-)

My Memories Suite Giveaway

I have seen a few giveaways for this software over the past few weeks, I looked at it but thought, nope I don't think that's for me.   Then I received an email from My Memories Suite asking if I would like to do a review of My Memories and  host a giveaway on my blog, so I thought, okay will give it a go.  I received the software and had a look through, but it was quite late at night so left it until the next day.   Oh boy was I in for a surprise!!!   I sat there all morning playing with it!!  I love it.  All the different little embellishments that you can add,  be warned IT'S ADDICTIVE!!!

Here are just some of the ones I have been playing with:-

I found this really really easy to do, after the initial half hour !!  I am terrible with instructions, and very impatient - I never look at instructions unless I get stuck - there are detailed instructions and tutorials for this software so if you get stuck help is just a click away.

There are lots of free kits to download to add to the ones that come with the software, here are some more, told you it was addictive!!

Here is a link to the tutorial I used, it's about 30 mins long but it helped me a lot to see what can be done with this software.

Okay I will stop now.  Would you like to be able to do this as well??  You can if you enter my giveaway.

You have two chances to win.....

1. Go over to My Memories  and tell me which template you like best.

2,  Follow My Memories either on FB, Blog or Twitter and let me know you have done at least one.

I will pick the winner one week from today on 16th November

Now, if you can't wait until then to get your hands on this software I have a code that you can use to get $10 discount off the purchase price of My Memories Suite Scrapbook Software AND you also get $10 Coupon to use in MyMemories.com Store.... that's a total of $20 for you, just use this code STMMMS43974

Good Luck everyone.

Finally quilted

Remember how I said I had a mental block with quilting, just couldn't get myself motivated.  Well thanks to some bloggy friends, giving me some encouragement and a good kick up the backside.... I actually finished my Bronwyn Hayes quilt. So here it is...

I really enjoyed doing this quilt, I think I was a little disappointed when I had finished the stitchery - I wanted to do more!!!

We have also been busy doing some more renovation to the house, we have replaced an old oak door that has seen better days, was draughty, had no frame at the bottom so the bugs, lizards and sometimes the rain came under it, and in the winter you should have heard the wind howling through it!!!

Here is what it was like

and here is what it looks like now....

I absolutely love it, we can now see out on to our garden - though the birds have been a bit surprised, they keep coming to the window trying to land on the door - opps it's not there any more!!  Next job will be jet washing those steps!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!!!!

It's my Anniversary, my FIRST Blog Anniversary wow can you believe it's been a year, which means it must be nearly a year since Sam had his tumour removed, I can tell you this, I am a much happier blogger this year than I was last year worrying about him.  He is as fit as a fiddle and (touch wood) no sign of the cancer returning.  He says Hi to all of his fans.

And I never thought The Lady of the House would still be with us but she is, 18 years, 6 months and 16 days old!!  Still as stubborn as ever. As I am writing this she is snoring her head off!!!!

So what has happened in this year, well, I have learned lots of things, started doing stitchery, finished some quilts, did a QAL and I won LOTS of giveaways!....I even made a bird cage cover without a pattern for my BFF in the UK, (if you are reading this....still waiting for those photos Pam!) but the biggest and best thing for me has been making new friends, yes that means YOU.  When I started quilting and blogging I could never have imagined how much help, kindness and friendship I was going to receive,  I am really happy to be part of this quilting community.  So I am going to take this opportunity of saying a big THANK YOU to you all.

Now what happens on an Anniversary, oh yes we go out for a meal..no no that's not it....oh I know we go out for a drink....nope that's not right either.....wait! I do a GIVEAWAY don't I!!.....Oh Yes.

To make it easy and so that you get to choose what you want I am going to give a $25 Gift Voucher for The Intrepid Thread.  If you haven't been to Julie's shop then I suggest you do and also become a follower of her blog because she does some fabulous giveways (I should know I have won two of them!!)  If you go over let her know I sent you.

So here's the deal.....

This giveaway is for my followers only (new and old)

1.  Leave me a comment, tell me where you live and what your weather is like (it's raining here in France)

2.  Go over to The Intrepid Thread and tell me what you would buy with your Gift Voucher.

That's it two chances to win.

PLEASE NOTE...If you are a "No Reply" blogger I can't get in touch with you - and you won't win! I have had some comments from no reply bloggers so check and make sure.

I will draw the winner one week from today 1st November.

Good luck Peeps!
